Square One has performed at Park Tavern in Atlanta several times and ranks it as one of its favorite places to play in the Atlanta area. Its size is perfect for any size wedding, and its proximity to Piedmont park makes it a perfect location for weddings and other private events. One of the more unique venues the Square One Band has performed at has been the Rustix Manor in Woodstock, GA. It’s layout and location is perfect for a large outdoor wedding, and even though it is located in a Woodstock, it has a much more rural feel because of the amount of acreage that belongs to the venue’s owner. In a word (or three), a very cool place! For more information, click here.
The band played in a town we don’t get too very often, Mobile, Alabama. Although it was a bit of a haul, the crowd’s enthusiasm during our set made it well worth the effort! The weather held out during most of the trip down, although it rained a bit during our load out, which is never fun. Regardless, it was a successful trip for the Square One Band, and we look forward to going back to Mobile next Summer when another show is planned there. Until next time!
One of the more memorable events that occur during the reception, especially for brides, is the Father-Daughter dance. Over the course of the last several years, Sweetwater Junction has been asked for advice on what to pick for this (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime occurrence.
Here are a couple of things to consider when picking that special song:
1) Tempo: How fast is the song? Unless you want to be doing a jitterbug, you may want to make sure the song is on the slower side. Trust me, I have seen many occassions where the song choice was far to fast, especially if the father of the bride is older.
2) Length: More often than note, dancing for more than four minutes or so may become a little awkward; remember, you will be the focal point for your guests. If you are naturally uncomfortable in the spotlight, you may want to pick a song that is shorter in length.
3) Lyrical Content: Obviously, you want to pick something that is appropriate and defines the kind of relationship you have with your father. With that, I have included a few links that include many choices for a Father-Daughter dance. Good luck in your decision making!
The Square One Band recently had the pleasure to play at the Olde Pink House in Savannah, GA to celebrate the wedding of a beautiful couple. The event was a blast, with those in attendance partying to the wee hours of the night. The couple made a great choice in their photographers, Jade and Matthew from Jade and Matthew Take Pictures. They were very attentive to their clients, and took special care to capture the specialness and excitement of the evening. Here are some of their excellent pics, more shots on the way!
The band had a great time last weekend playing an annual Christmas party last weekend in downtown Atlanta. Here are some pics from the event!
The Square One Band and all those that attended had a great time at a beautiful wedding at the Brasstown Valley Resort in North Ga last weekend. Although it was a bit chilly, that didn’t seem to stop the guests from dancing throughout the evening! The Sunset Pavilion at Brasstown is absolutely beautiful with incredible views, and is a great option for a weddings and other important events. Thanks so much to Photographer Andrea Taylor from Andrea Taylor Studios; She and her husband Rich were all over the event getting great pics, and after watching them in action (especially with their interaction with the crowd), I would certainly recommend them to anyone looking for a top-notch photographer for their wedding!
Having played several hundred weddings, I am constantly amazed at the choices that need to be made when deciding what to do about food choices (and their are many!) for the big event. A friend of mine is getting married soon, and asked me if I had any ideas concerning what he and his bride to be should do about the menu. I sent him these links and thought they might be helpful to others as well!
The Square One Band recently had the pleasure of playing at a lovely wedding at the White Columns in Alpharetta GA. The photographer for the event, an extremely talented Wes Roberts of Wes Roberts Photography, was kind enough to send some photos to the band of that excellent evening. Congratulations to the Bride and Groom!
Many people are not aware of all the excellent options available in North Georgia to host their wedding; the Square One Band has played a lot of amazing events in North GA so we thought it would be helpful to share some of these venue’s websites with you as you make your decision to host your special day. Enjoy!
