A Beautiful Night for a Memorable Event

The Square One Band recently had the pleasure of playing at a lovely wedding at the White Columns in Alpharetta GA. The photographer for the event, an extremely talented Wes Roberts of Wes Roberts Photography, was kind enough to send some photos to the band of that excellent evening. Congratulations to the Bride and Groom!

Choosing the Right Music for Your Wedding

Square One recently performed a series of back-to- back weddings in which the groom had asked for specific songs/artists to be played during the reception. While we were a bit hesitant to do so, having many performances to use as examples for what works and what doesn’t work, we agreed to do so. The results were what we expected. While the groom and a few members of the wedding party enjoyed the songs, the majority of the quests did not. They stayed off the dance floor, had some strange looks for the band and all- in- all seemed apathetic to any type of celebratory mood.

After a brief band huddle between sets, we decided to start the second set with what we knew would work. Sure enough, the quest’s moods quickly turned from reserved to raucaus and the groom was very happy to see that his wedding night would be remembered as a great evening of fun!

Point being,  a wedding is about having FUN, so although there may be songs or artists that you may not be particularly  fond of, those same songs or artists might be exactly what is needed to create  an exciting party-like atmosphere for your guests. “Standard wedding songs” are usually standard for a reason; people like to hear them at weddings!

Thanks for listening!

Sending the Right Message to Your Wedding Guests

My wife and I recently received an invation to a wedding this Fall. While the invitations were well-done, with beautiful caligraphy, heavy stock paper, and an overall professional layout, there was one bit of pertinent information that was left out: the time of the event! Anyway, I thought that I would post a link I found which deals with the “Do’s and Don’ts” of wedding invitations..hope it helps!

Picking the Right Music for Your Wedding

I recently came across the website listed below, which discusses music choices for weddings. I know it is sometimes difficult to choose the right first dance song, the father-daughter dance song etc, for your event. Ultimately, it is up to the individuals choice and not what the masses think.  However, I think the link below will provide you with some helpful hints on picking the right music.

Remember, if you don’t see a song on our songlist that you would like to have played for one of your dances, let us know and we will make every effort to learn it!

Tips for Choosing a Great Wedding Music

I recently came across this article on the Internet which discusses things to consider when choosing entertainment (in the form of live music) for a wedding. Some great tips to consider:

  1. Choose a versatile band that can provide lighter music for earlier in the evening and more lively music for dancing later in the evening.
  2. Most weddings guests have a varied age range. So the band should have a diverse repertoire. Ideally they might incorporate songs from the 60s and 70s for older guests and more current songs for the younger guests.
  3. Make sure that the band you choose has good references and plenty of experience.
  4. To find a good band to play at your wedding, ask for suggestions from friends and family. A good entertainment agency will have a variety of bands to recomnend for your wedding. Wedding planners may also have preferred bands that they work.

Hopefully these tips will give you some helpful information while looking for a band for this most important event. If you have any questions about all the services that the Square One Band can offer to help make your event as special as possible, don’t hesitate to ask by dropping us an email!
